For the past seventy years, deep in the mountains and totally secluded from civilization, a matriarchal society has thrived. In this small village there are no brothers, no fathers, no sons. In this village men exist only to serve the women, and boys have no mothers. In this village men do as they are told and defiance is severely punished.
This is the only Life Wilderness has ever known, but when Jameson is brought in from the outside to be her husband, everything she thought she knew about strength and love is tested. As they struggle to find their place in the village, they suddenly find themselves face to face with outsiders who threaten to destroy everything they love, and it doesn’t take long to realize that they will have to work together, men and women alike, if they want to survive.

With a couple of nineties rom-coms tucked inside my purse, and a fresh carton of Ben & Jerry’s in a bag hanging off my forearm, buried in the bottom of my purse, I was determined to make up for lost time.
I knocked twice, like always. Once to make my presence known, and the next to make sure Max wasn’t in there screwing one of his many flavors—though I didn’t see his car either. Unlike every other time I’d stopped by, nobody answered…at least at first. But then I heard it—a grunt, followed by a, fuck me and then an, I’m coming, hold on.
“Oh, God.” I took a step back, looking over my shoulder toward the driveway, more than ready to run.
No, no, no. I knew that voice.
There was no time to escape, though, because a second later he was there. And quite frankly, my legs weren’t capable of moving, either. Because the moment that door whipped open and I saw him standing there, I was screwed with a capital S.
“McKenna…” He said my name on an exhale, while his hypnotic green eyes raked over me in one long, agonizing swoop. His cheeks grew bright red—making him look bashful and, adorable, not the tough- guy like his friends tried to be. When he bowed his head, I took a second to look him over too, frowning when I noted a clump of black sticky, gooey stuff clinging to the ends of his lashes, and a smearing of something shiny and red on the corners of his lips and clinging to his beard.
“H-hi.” I cleared my throat, attempting to remember why I was there in the first place. His The intensity emitting from this man  tended to make me forget pretty much everything.
“What are you doing here?” He folded his arms over his massive chest. The same chest I’d touched… The same chest I’d kissed…
I blinked. “W-where’s Addie?”
He frowned and that beard of his shifted, conforming with the movements of his jaw. “Grocery store. She asked me to watch Chloe for half an hour.”
“You? Watch Chloe?” I snorted.
“Yeah. Me.” His eyebrows drew together as he propped one hand against the door frame, a dare in his words that said, challenge Challenge me, and you will lose.
Except I highly doubted this man could ever beat me in a match of wits. Regardless, he did havehad me mesmerized, like as always. His hotness, his coyness, the vulnerability I knew he embodied… Total. Human. Catnip.
I swallowed, watching his forearm flex. Gavin was humongous in every sense of the word. I may might have been a little tipsy when we’d had sex, but the delicious soreness between my legs the next morning proved that big was so very worth it.
My face grew hot at the memory, my mouth opening and closing like a dunce’s. Who was I? Where was I? And why the hell did I have an unexplainable urge to drop to my knees before him?
Because you like him.
I frowned and held my chin up high. “Mind if I come in and make sure you didn’t tie the tyke up?” Without waiting for a response, I ducked under his outstretched arm, holding my breath as I did. Unfortunately, the air in my lungs did little to block the heavenly, masculine smell he emitted. Spice, pine, soap… The combination made my lady parts tingle and my head spin in remembrance.
I didn’t do men for more than a night. Not anymore. Not since Penis-head Head Paul. So, what was my issue? One and done, that’s the way it was supposed to be. Not third time’s a charm, damn it.
Ignoring his are-you-kidding-me- expression, I headed into the living room, finding the coffee table filled with all things princess. Crowns, feather boas, fake earrings, and… “Is that makeup?”
He cleared his throat. “Yeah, um, give me a second, would ya?”
I grinned at him, watching, yet again, as he bowed his head—this time rubbing at the clingy black goo on his eyes and, yes, the red lipstick on his beard.
Oh. My. God.
He’d let the kid put it on him?
Be still, my beating heart.
“Sure. Take your time.” My lips twitched as I watched him rush down the hall. The bathroom door shut a second later, followed by an explicit amount of cursing as the water began to run. I giggled, knowing exactly what he was doing. Washing it off.
Something tugged on the leg of my pants, forcing me to look down. I couldn’t help but smile wider when I found the little lady that who had enamored my bestie—and maybe even myself—standing at my feet.
Chloe was dressed in jammies, yet she wore a fancy crown with and that the same red lipstick and black mascara as that Gavin had on his face, painted mostly on her chin and cheeks.
“Hey, kiddo.” I crouched down in front of her, touching her shoulder. “Are you having fun with Uncle Gavin?”
She nodded wildly, her eyes bright and blue like her daddy’s. She pressed her tiny hands over her mouth a second later and giggled, looking over my shoulder. I stood and turned, finding Gavin shirtless, and using his T-shirt to dry his face, the abs of that gloriously, flat stomach making my throat run dry.
My knees grew weak at the image, and I plopped onto the edge of the chair, trying to curb the shaking in my hands. Jesus, I needed to get it myself together.
“Beaner. Grab your pretty princess stuff and put it back in the bag before Addie gets home, okay? Remember our secret? No telling her about the make-up .” She nodded quickly, hauling the stuff up into her arms.
With my bottom lip pulled between my teeth, I watched him sit on the coffee table in front of her, holding out the bag. As a team, they piled up all of the stuff and stowed it in the bag Gavin was holding. Seconds later, Chloe ran down the hall, her feet pattering against the floor.
I looked at his lap, briefly scanning his long legs tucked under a pair of mesh basketball shorts. They came just above the knee and were navy blue, the letters USMC were written along the edge. And like as if it called was calling to me, I saw the outline of his erection, growing harder with every blink of my eyes.
“You wanna sit on my lap?”
“Um…” Sweet Jesus, yes! Yes, please!
“You keep staring at my shorts.”
“Oh, uh, no. I was just…” I looked away and nibbled on my lip, the temptation far too…tempting. If I sat on his lap, then I might not be able to get off so easily this time. Not just in the sexual sense either—though Gavin was very skilled at making a lady come—but in the emotional sense too. Because, well, I wasn’t as strong as I wanted to be, and being in his arms was something I’d vowed not to do again. Mainly because I’d liked it so much.

Sky high cliffs, the serene Hudson River, and blue skies
surrounded them. Seagulls screeched overhead as they made their
way up the wide, winding path. Maggie jumped out of the way as
a cyclist whizzed past.
     “Oh!”
He grabbed her waist, holding her tight. “You need to watch
out for those guys. They can be relentless around here.”
Didn’t she know it. The local roads were dominated by the
cyclists in the warm weather. More than once in the past few
weeks, Maggie had to pull over to the side of the road to allow
them to pass.
“This is nice.” Maggie followed the sound of the gulls’ cries
overhead. Not a cloud in the sky.
“It is, but then again, anything would be nice with you by
my side.”
“Thanks.” She snuggled her head against his shoulder for a
moment as they walked hand in hand further up the path.
Walking in a companionable silence, Maggie was happy. This
was nice, being here with him.
“Would you look at that?” He pointed up toward the edge of
the cliff. Maggie could just about make out the tiny figures of two
people. She swayed slightly. They had to be nuts to get that close
to the edge. They had to be nuts period.
“Yeah, well if you ask me, they’re crazy.”
“Crazy? How do you figure?” His eyes bore into hers.

“Going way up there? They must have a death wish.” Maggie
nearly shivered even though the temperature was mild.
He stopped her, placing his hands on her shoulders. “You’re
afraid of heights?”
     “No, don’t be ridiculous.”
“You are, aren’t you?” His eyes lit up.
“If I’m not mistaken, it seems as if you’re deriving some kind
of sick pleasure from this,” Maggie mumbled, head down.
“No, honey. No.” He wrapped his arms around her as more
cyclists scurried by. “I didn’t mean to react that way. It’s just that
in my eyes you’re perfect. I didn’t imagine you’d have a fear in
the world.”
If only he knew. She had plenty of fears, but Maggie figured
most people did.
“Really? That’s nice of you to say. Untrue, but nice.”
“Come on. Say, what’s your greatest fear? Top fear of all
time?”
Strange turn in conversation. “Where are you going with this
line of questioning?”
He blew out a hearty chuckle. “Come on, it’s all in good fun.
I’m just trying to get to know you.”
“Okay. Heights. My top fear is heights.” She wished to change
the subject but wondered what his own fears were now that the
topic was on the table.
“What about you? What are you afraid of?”
“I guess it would be drowning.” Yes, drowning was also high
on her list.
He was uncharacteristically quiet. Now would be a good time
to lighten the mood.
“Enough of this macabre talk. Back to the beautiful day before
us.” Maggie stepped away from him to spread her arms wide. His
face remained serious.
     “Yes, it would be drowning.”
A dark look passed over his brown eyes. He had already
mentioned the fact.
“Okay. Can we move on? Maybe talk about something else?”

“Since you’re the one who brought it up, I guess so.”
“I didn’t…” He was the one who had pointed out the hikers
up high on the cliff.
“Yes, you actually did. But I suppose that’s neither here nor
there. I never learned how to swim, did you know that?”
“No, I didn’t.” Maggie took a step away from his reach. She
felt uncomfortable with the vibe he was creating. More than
anything, Maggie wished he would just stop talking about his
fears, her fears.
“Can you imagine that? Being raised without swimming
lessons?”
Maggie could almost taste the hostility that was radiating off
him. Someone had unresolved issues from his childhood, it seemed.
Now wasn’t the time to inquire about his past, though. Maggie
slipped her hands into her light sweatshirt, wondering if it was
time they should be heading back.
“It’s getting late. What do you say we head back?”
It was as if a switch had been flipped. There was no other
way to describe it. As suddenly as his mood had become dark and
brooding, he was now light and charming once more.
“What? And miss out on sharing this spectacular day with
you?” He leaned over and kissed her. Hard.
It was a bit uncomfortable, standing there in the middle of the
path, in plain view, being kissed with such intensity.
“Come.” He led her off the path and into the thick of the woods.
She had no choice but to follow.
He chuckled as he led her to a large boulder. “Here.”
He scooped her up and placed her on top of the large rock.
Following suit, he climbed up the slight incline and joined Maggie.
Kissing her again, he cupped her head in his hands. Moments
later, his hands smoothed over her body.
Maggie stiffened, pulling away. He sat back, eyes wide. “What
is it, Maggie? What the hell is the problem now?”
     “I’m just not ready.”
Placing his head in his hands, he sighed dramatically. “You’re
not ready.” His laugh was sharp.

“Why not? Didn’t I just tell you I love you?” His tone rose
in agitation.
Was that why he had declared his love for her? Her face must
have given away her thoughts.
“Are you kidding me? You think that’s why I shared my
feelings with you?” He stood and paced on the boulder. “Let’s go.
Time to go.”
What had just happened here? How had everything
deteriorated in a matter of mere minutes? And how much of it
was her fault?
“No. Don’t. Sit down. Please.” Her eyes looked up at his
height, pleading for him to stay.
“I don’t get you, Maggie. I have to be honest here with you.
You’re kind of driving me crazy. Pushing my limits, you know?”
His face flushed red as he paced.
How was she pushing him? “Sit, please just come back and sit
beside me.” Maggie patted the spot beside her, her lip trembling.
She didn’t know why he was so upset, only that she wanted things
to return to how they were prior to this walk by the river.
“Fine.” He plopped himself beside her, leaving at least a foot
between them.
Maggie reached over for him, taking his hand in hers. He
didn’t move closer but didn’t pull away either.
“Maggie. You’re killing me. I love you. I freaking love you,
and I feel you not returning my feelings.”
     “I…”
“Let me finish. I open up to you, try to show you how much I
love you and I’m met with a slam of the door.” His hands moved
dramatically. Maggie leaned back so that he wouldn’t swipe her
as he spoke.
“No response from you, telling me that you love me back, and
now I can’t even show you how I feel.” He was upon her, grabbing
her face, his eyes intense.
It was true. She hadn’t said she loved him back. She hadn’t
been ready. What she definitely wasn’t ready for was showing
him. The words slipped out of her mouth before she could think.

Aided by her new friends, who have some dark secrets themselves, can she survive long enough to figure out the secret behind the secret?
Blurb:
Saidie Walker grew up a nice, normal girl—but not everything is as it seems. Even the Walker family has secrets locked away.
Saidie’s grandmother told them stories from their family history about being able to raise the dead. But Saidie believed they were only scary stories meant to frighten naughty children, and necromancers were nothing more than the stuff of nightmares and make-believe.
Until she met Alexandria Blackburne Reed and her powers woke up with a vengeance. Now she’s shipped off to New Orleans to be tutored, but finds herself surrounded by horrors instead.
One bright spot fills her dismal days—Aleric, the guy who’s been assigned as her test subject. He drives her nuts, makes her so mad she’s ready to hit something, but the thought of causing him more pain than he’s already suffered at Madame’s hands is more than she can bear.
Her emerging feelings for him both confuse and excite her. She may have found the one thing she’s always wanted, but will it survive amidst all the danger beginning to unfold?
Aleric’s past is interwoven with the friends she left back home, and she’ll do what she must to protect them all, even if that means dying. Her only hope is to make it home to West Virginia—to her best friend.
It’s up to Alexandria to find a way to help Saidie before she loses her to the madness of her necromancy, while dealing with her own pain and heartache.
Can they survive the horrors about to rain down upon them all?
So who am I?
Well, I’m the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn’t love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.
Now, I live in a small town in West Virginia where I entertain my niece and nephew and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce…lol.
I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

When Arianna finds herself face-to-face with the gorgeous castle blacksmith, Craig James, she feels such an intense connection to the man that she is left stunned, unsure what the hell is happening to her. He’s not just remarkably handsome, he also possesses an irresistible charm, that leaves her powerless to resist him.
Arianna isn’t your typical insta-love heroine, yet Craig isn’t your everyday hero. Not only is he interesting and mysterious, but underneath those blacksmith clothes, he’s a powerful dragon shifter… a gorgeous beast of a man, who is willing to fight for the woman he loves.
What begins as a one-night stand, quickly turns into something more, as Arianna finds herself thrust into the middle of a world filled with mystery, and magic, where tales of flying dragons and dangerous witches come to life, and where nothing is ever what it seems.
Can she bring herself to accept the illusive Craig James for what he is, or will she be too afraid to believe in the magic that brought them together?
The fires of passion have never burned brighter, the scorching flames fanning the hunger that burns within until there is only one thing left to do: Give into its power, or lose the chance to be loved unlike ever before.
